I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

"Bring it on" Mr Frist

We discussed this yesterday but it remains in the news today.
Frist Cautions Senators Against Stalling Alito Vote
"It would be against the intent of the Founding Fathers and our Constitution to deny Sam Alito an up-or-down vote on the floor of the United States Senate," he said on "Fox News Sunday."
Americablog points out the hypochrisy that is the modern Republican party.
How come it wasn't against the intent of the Founding Fathers to give Harriet Miers an up-or-down vote? The Republicans are such frauds. They lost all credibility on nominations with the way they treated Miers. Plus, it looks like Frist is really just trying to rebuild his credibility with the theocrats:
The more the American citizens learn of Sam Alito the less they are going to like him. I wonder if this was an attempt by Frist to shift the debate from Alito's record to the Democrats. The Democrats made it clear they were not considering a filibuster at this time. I hope that is an attempt by the Democrats to shift the debate back to Alito and that a filibuster is not off the table. Let Frist unleash the "nuclear option". I'm not sure that he is in a position to pull it off but even if he is the filibuster is of no use if your not going to use it anyway.
