I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
Well Newshoggers has closed it's doors so Middle Earth Journal is active once again.

Video -- Journalists In Captivity

The best news of the last few hours included the release of NBC's Richard Engle from five days captivity in Syria. I first became aware of his absence yesterday when a Twitter message made reference to a "news blackout" by NBC regarding the "disappearance of one of their journalists"  whom she did not identify by name.
This video shows the group reading scripts prepared by their captors.
Something tells me that whatever group is responsible is not affiliated with the Assad regime. Which means that the group is among those being called "opposition" or "rebel" forces.
There is good reason for the US and other countries to be hesitant embracing so-called "opposition" forces which include groups that kidnap journalists.
