Something big happens on January 1, 2008 - if you leave the House or Senate you have to wait two years before you can go to work for a lobbyist. So we have an opportunity to see who served in the congress as a public servant and who served to better their own fortunes. As Jazz reported earlier Trent Lott has chosen the big bucks over public service as has Dennis Hassert. The two year limit may be the most powerful part of the ethics bill. Lott and Hassert both realize that after two years out of your value to lobbyists is vastly diminished - no more revolving door. Will there be anymore surprises in the next few weeks?
