I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Court TV

Saddam Hussein was a terrible man and was certainly guilty of the crimes he was charged with. That still doesn't make this news:
Hussein Sentenced to Hang for Crimes Against Iraqis
The trial was not justice but a made for TV trial directed by the Bush administration. There was never any doubt he would be found guilty and would be sentenced to die. The administration's choreography of course included politics and the Iraqi government was told exactly when the trial should end. How much will it impact the election on Tuesday? While a majority now feel that the invasion of Iraq and has in fact made us less safe it may help the Republicans because of what it pushed from the news:
U.S. military deaths in Iraq hit 2,834
As of Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at least 2,834 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,268 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.
