Through the 2004 election the wedge issue strategy of Karl Rove and his evil elves Bill Frist and Denny Hastert worked like a charm but something happened. In early 2005 the attempt to create a hell of the living dead in the person of Terri Schiavo backfired. A vast majority of Americans, including nearly half of the Evangelical Christian base, said wait a minute! the kool-aide has a bad taste.
