There is a timetable for US withdrawal from Iraq and everybody knows it. The Iraqis know it, the jihadists know it, the insurgents know it and the Bush administration knows it. That timetable is not determined by politicians in Washington or Baghdad. As the 2006 election cycle starts to warm up the American people are determining it. The Iraqis are talking about a timetable, not because they want one but because they know both the American people and the citizens of Iraq demand it.
Well professional politician Joe Biden is one who watches to see which way the tide is flowing and he knows there already is a timetable. So what does Joe Biden do? He proposes one of course. His WAPO editorial is a classic example of political fence walking and double speak where he proposes nothing new while trying to make it sound profound. He does at least admit the reality that the US simply cannot maintain the current troop levels any longer which does give him a one up on the Bush administration and the Republicans.
I'm not going to copy and paste any of Biden's editorial because the only thing about it that's significant is that we now know Joe Biden knows there is a timetable.
