I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

From the "it's not what you know but who you know" department
At this point I think most have come to the conclusion that Michael Brown did not have the qualifications to serve as FEMA director. MEJ's Bill in DC directs us to this look at Brown's background in The New Republic and it appears he is really not qualified to do much of anything. We have all heard that his job previous to joining FEMA was with the International Arabian Horse Association(IAHA). When he left that job both the IAHA and Brown personally were being sued. Now Brown does have a degree in law from the Oklahoma City University School of Law. The problem is that school is not was not even a member of the Association of American Law Schools (aals)--the organization that, along with the American Bar Association, accredits the nation's law schools. In other words a "match book" school or diploma mill. The article has a lot more information on Brown's "career". Bottom line, Brown would have been unemployable if he had not been a friend of a friend of George W. Bush.
