Crooks and Liars reports
Armstrong Williams a no-show on Scarborough Country! Joe Scarborough promised an interview with Mr. Williams, after blasting the conservative talk show host on his "Readl Deal" opening segment. Unfortunately, Armstrong-Gate himself was no where to be found. Joe: Do we still not have Armstrong Williams? OK, I guess Armstrong didn't like our Real Deal tonight because we booked him earlier this morning,... he was with us all day.. I guess he just got up and walked.
As Atrios pointed out, the right has been quiet on this pretty much. Today however, Jonah at NRO wants to make it into a racial thing by criticizing Steve Gilliard's post. SG responds to NRO here. Again Atrios explains the hypocrisy from Goldberg .
Why did AW-Gate disappear from the set? He is running to every talk show out there as fast as he can, except surprisingly Hannity& Colmes(I guess that Amber Frey interview was just too important), trying to justify his actions and save his career. Was it because Scarborough was so tough on him in his opening statement and he knew he couldn't sleaze his way out of it? Did he feel that SC didn't have a big enough audience? I checked the NY Post on-line and did a search but haven't found an article about the incident so far. Media Matters urges outlets to disqualify Mr. Williams from appearing in the media as an independent commentator.
Of course it's a racial thing, he got the money because he's black and the administration wanted him to try to sell this pig to other blacks. Will any of the other talk show hosts come to Williams defense like he came to
Rush Limbaugh's after he admitted a drug problem?
On Phil Paleologos' "American Breakfast" show, syndicated out of New Bedford, Mass., Armstrong Williams, host and syndicated columnist, was asked to respond to NewsMax's request for comment on Rush's predicament.
"You know, it just goes to show the human frailties of us all," Williams replied, and expressed a belief that Limbaugh may be optimistic as to how long he it would take for him to complete his treatment.
"To take a month off, that's not even the beginning. I mean this guy has an uphill battle to recovery. It's a devastating blow. I think we should remain loyal to him," Armstrong added. "I respect the fact that he has taken full responsibility."
Those who think Rush was "forced" into the open by the publicity, as Williams sees it, should consider another scenario.
"I would say that he was begging for someone to break his silence and break his agony to tell his story ..... But not once did he deny it [or] become a victim."
Human frailties indeed. I haven't seen anyone jumping up to defend Willaims yet.
