The Old South

Ben at Blue Grass Roots thinks it would be easier if the Old South would just rise again.

I have to admit, though, saving the U.S. would be a lot easier if I didn't have to save the whole thing. It'd be a lot easier if the Old South would just rise again. Please, South, rise again. You can have your bigotry, your suspicion of outsiders, and your canned Nashville country. Go be your own nation where you're free to impose your faith on anyone dumb enough to cross your border (a la the Taliban AND, I might add, 17th century England, which soon-to-be Americans couldn't WAIT to escape). Keep your taxes low and education level lower. After all, no one's going to vote against you if they can't read the street signs to find their way to the polls, right?

Please, South, rise again.

I think the Old South did rise again, it just took the rest of us with it.
