Condi as Secretary of State and the Middle East

I was going to do a post on The New York Times commentary on Condi Rice as Secretary of State but Jazz has done it for me over at Running Scared. I don't have anything to add, Jazz said it all so just head over there. His comments on the Middle East are right on the money.

......You may remember that Ms. Albright didn't have much luck there during her tenure as the first female head of the State Department, and it was widely whispered that one of the reasons was that the Israel and Palestine leaders don't do well dealing with women in these positions. Add that to Dr. Rice's obvious lack of hands on experience in diplomacy, and you have a recipe for failure.

If we must be saddled with Condi as the Secretary of State, perhaps she should just leave well enough alone and let the Middle East sort itself out. Time will tell.
