I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Mt. St. Helens, Red Hot!!!!!!!!

Exclusive Sky-8 video shows lava on Mount St. Helens.
Red-hot lava spotted on Mount St. Helens
Molten rock rising inside Mount St. Helens has pushed its way to the surface and glowing red lava was spotted on the crater.

Scientists said Tuesday that they believe Mount St. Helens is building a new lava dome in an area of the crater that has seen rapid uplift since late September.

“We are clearly in a period of renewed lava dome growth at Mount St. Helens,” said geologist John Pallister with the U.S. Geological Survey.

The magma surfaced with little drama. There was no large eruption of steam and ash accompanying it. The 8,364-foot mountain shook from small earthquakes registering a magnitude one. The seismic activity on Tuesday was weak compared to the swarms of earthquakes that rumbled below the lava dome just before steam and ash eruptions earlier this month.
