Dear Friend,So do they mean it? If they do they will use all of the resources available to defeat Joe Lieberman. '"Stay the course" is not a strategy. It is a rhetorical sleight of hand to cover up a three year record of staggering incompetence from George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and their Senate allies who sit by idly while Iraq descends into chaos.' So who is one of the administration's biggest Senate allies? If you guessed Joe Lieberman you would be right. 'This November, Democrats across the country must unite to vote for change in the Senate. It is the only way that we can make George W. Bush change course.' That's right and the best place to start is with Joe Lieberman. So is the DSCC serious - do they mean it? I guess we are going to find out real soon.
A report in today's New York Times reveals what you and I already know: Iraq is sinking further and further into violence. According to statistics compiled by the U.S. military, the number of roadside bombs planted in Iraq rose in July to the highest monthly total of the war.
And yet, all we hear from the White House is recycled talking points talk about how much progress we're making in Iraq. The increasingly isolated George Bush refuses to face reality in Iraq and he is being enabled by his lackeys in the Senate who continue to insist that all America has to do is "stay the course." Democrats are taking Republicans head on for their blind obedience to George Bush's failed security policies and as part of our strategy, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) has just released a video taking on GOP senators for their willful ignorance of reality in Iraq.

Since early summer, Democratic leaders have been urging the Bush administration to adopt five specific recommendations to change the course in Iraq so that the Iraqi people can take responsibility for their own security. The Democratic strategy focuses on transitioning the U.S. troops' mission to one of counterterrorism, training, logistical support of Iraqi security forces, and force protection of U.S. personnel. In addition, the plan calls for a reduced U.S. footprint in Iraq in an effort to get the Iraqis to take responsibility for their own security and allow U.S. forces to rebuild the U.S. military.
"Stay the course" is not a strategy. It is a rhetorical sleight of hand to cover up a three year record of staggering incompetence from George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and their Senate allies who sit by idly while Iraq descends into chaos. View the DSCC video to see exactly what I am talking about.

This November, Democrats across the country must unite to vote for change in the Senate. It is the only way that we can make George W. Bush change course.
Sincerely,
Anne Lewis
