I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

All for nothing

Well we are not alone anymore. Those of the US of A have seen 2600 and counting lives and billions of dollars in treasure spent for a piece of sand that we are sooner or later going to have to give up. Of course we have the delusional insanity of the necons to thank. Well now Israel has joined the club.

Hizbullah likely to retain weapons
Hizbullah will not hand over its weapons to the Lebanese government but rather refrain from exhibiting them publicly, according to a new compromise that is reportedly brewing between Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Seniora and Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The UN cease-fire resolution specifically demands the demilitarization of the area south of the Litani river. The resolution was approved by the Lebanese cabinet.

In a televised address on Monday night, Nasrallah declared that now was not the time to debate the disarmament of his guerrilla fighters, saying the issue should be done in secret sessions of the government to avoid serving Israeli interests.
And Israel is giving up the territory captured as quickly as possible.
The Israel Defense Forces, which had poured 30,000 troops into the south to fight Hezbollah guerrillas, plans to start handing over some pockets of territory to UN troops in a day or two, Israeli officials and Western diplomats said.

Israel's expedited timetable for withdrawing reflects concerns that its forces on the ground are easy targets for Hizbollah attack. "They want a fast exit in one to two weeks," said a Western diplomat briefed by the IDF.
There is some indication that more and more in the US are recognizing that The Project For The New American Century crowd are just flat out crazy. I think that's what George Will was hinting at today.
