I don't often agree with Marshall Wittman ( my latest rant can be found at Running Scared) but it would appear that none other than Donald Rumsfeld has supplied us with some common ground. The Bull Moose explains:
Donald Rumsfeld has accomplished something no government official has achieved. Rummy has brought the country together. He is truly a uniter and not a divider. And then this:
Republican and Democrat. Conservative and Liberal. Civilian and Military. Red State and Blue State. All together.
America is agreed. We are a united nation.
There is a national consensus - Donald Rumsfeld must go.
It appears that there are only two holdouts on this national consensus - Donald Rumsfeld and George W. Bush. It is a curious moment. The Administration is in a free fall and yet the President is refusing to take dramatic action. Is W. engaged in a perverse competition with Richard Nixon for which President can achieve the lowest popularity numbers? Now I think we already know what dubya's decision is and it would appear we would be right.
The President must decide what he values more - winning the war or retaining Rummy.
Bush voices strong support for Rumsfeld . Yes, once again the adolescent in the White House won't let anyone tell him what to do, except Dick Cheney of course. Sphere: Related Content
