I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

I'd like to be surprised

There was a time when many would find a story like this shocking. Now, it's not only shocking, but it probably will not result in a damned thing being done. Be that as it may, let's stifle our yawns of righteous indignation and read about...
Cheney Authorized Libby to Leak Classified Information

Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, testified to a federal grand jury that he had been "authorized" by Cheney and other White House "superiors" in the summer of 2003 to disclose classified information to journalists to defend the Bush administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case to go to war with Iraq, according to attorneys familiar with the matter, and to court records.

Libby specifically claimed that in one instance he had been authorized to divulge portions of a then-still highly classified National Intelligence Estimate regarding Saddam Hussein's purported efforts to develop nuclear weapons, according to correspondence recently filed in federal court by special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald.
I could go on with the quotes for ages. Read it for yourself. Some people will still be able to muster up the deserved level of anger, such as Intoxination, who said,
This is really ridiculous and also treasonous. Congress must act on this and hold hearings to clarify all the issues and if it is proven true, Cheney and the others involved should be tried for their crimes and removed from office.
Strong words and well intended. However, as long as one party controls the White House, Congress and the final courts that would decide any potential case arising out of this, if you think that Cheney or anyone else involved is going to stand before justice for this, I think you're a bit past optimistic.
