There is a temptation that seeps into the souls of even the most righteous politicians and leads them to bend the rules, and eventually the truth, to suit the political needs of the moment. That arrogance of power is on display with the Bush administration. That's right, it's in the first sentence: "There is a temptation that seeps into the souls of even the most righteous politicians". We are talking about George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove here. These are men who were never "righteous" and were not "tempted" to lie for political reasons it came quite naturally. These are not men who became evil when they achieved power but men who lusted after power so they could be evil. No David, it's not arrogance, it's much more.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

David Ignatius on arrogance and power
David Ignatius has a column today that on first look would seem to be a good one but it has a fatal flaw. The flaw is in the first paragraph, see if you can find it.
