I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Does anybody miss Tom Daschle?

Frist and the Republicans do.
After harry Reid's stealth maneuver yesterday the GOP [was] Angered by Closed Senate Session. Of course they were, they should go after Reid for copyright infringement as his move was right out of the Rethuglican playbook. Stay on the offensive and change the subject. And that's what Reid did yesterday. With the Iraq war becoming increasingly unpopular the truth about the lies and deceptions surrounding WMD in the lead up to the war are the administration's and the Republicans soft under belly. It's not surprising that Bush and the Republicans tried to change the subject with the Alito nomination and some double speak on bird flu, but Harry wasn't about to let them get away with it. You can tell it was successful because of all the outraged whining coming from the right. And yes, there was more to it than WMD; when Read and the Democrats found their balls on Monday they took another step towards castrating the already hapless Bill Frist and made it clear the Alito nomination will be war. They may lose the Alito battle but even if the Republicans win that battle the Democrats can make it costly for them. The Meirs nomination and her forced withdrawl make the up/down vote argument null and void. Harry Reid has shown he realizes this is a war and that he is willing to fight. So does anybody miss Tom Daschle? The Democrats don't.
