I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Terrorist Squirrels

The three hour power outage I experienced yesterday was apparently part of the rapidly growing squirrel insurgency.
From The Oregonian print edition.

A power failure at a King City substation left about 11,000 people without power for hours Tuesday in the southwest metro area.

About 3 p.m., a small animal, probably a squirrel, crawled into the substation and caused a short circuit, said Mark Fryburg, a Portland General Electric spokesman. That shut down the substation, cutting power to customers in Tigard, Tualatin, King City and Durham.

The company dispatched workers to the site soon after the failure began, but rush hour traffic slowed repair efforts, he said.

OK, where is the Department of Homeland Security when you need them?
