All kinds or rumors and predictions are swirling around the talk shows, the blogosophere and elsewhere due to not just the Rove testimony but a sense that this case is about to hit a dramatic high very soon. The dramatic high is that Karl Rove himself is coming back this morning to testify before the grand jury. Speculation is running rampant that Rove's lawyer is sending him before Fitzgerald at the eleventh hour on bended knee to either try to talk his way out of it, or flip for the prosecution and offer up somebody bigger to save himself.
What this means is Rove's lawyer, Bob Luskin, believes his client is definitely going to be indicted. So, Luskin is sending Rove back into the grand jury to try to get around the prosecutor and sell his innocence directly to the grand jurors. It's still possible (though only barely, in my opinion) that the prosecutor could move to protect the administration and walk away, but it hardly seems likely. It's looking more and more like both Rove and Scooter Libby are going to either be facing the music or giving up their bosses. (Highly unlikely, sadly.) But could you imagine if they did?
Billmon asks the $64,000 question. Will this be Karl's moment of truth?
