First he said she didn't fail because of opposition but because of an almost total lack of support.
Second and more interesting he said the nomination is the work of a post Rove White House team of Andrew Card and Laura Bush. Well it looks like the White House should keep those help wanted ads running. Now Bilmon has already explained that Andrew Card is not "the sharpest chisel in the White House toolbox".
When I interviewed him, I could tell fairly quickly that a.) he definitely wasn't the sharpest chisel in the White House [Reagan] toolbox (and this wasn't exactly the Leonardo da Vinci administration)And then there is Laura Bush, Nancy Reagan she's not. Now when Ronnie's brain stopped firing on all cylinders Nancy stepped in and took over the show. Nancy was at least smart enough to realize that Cheney, Rumsfeld and company were crazy and kept them at a distance. Now Bush's gray matter has been inadequate for some time but Laura is not the sharpest knife in the kitchen but that's probably where she should stay.
[......]
He struck me as a sad sack, a minor league patronage player who had already reached the level of his own incompetence. A future FEMA administrator, in other words.
