I wrote below that we should go easy on the hyperbole but it's really difficult when you see the lack of leadership from George W. Bush, who as we have seen before is totally incapable of caring. It is even more difficult after reading this piece by Kevin Drum on the intentional dismantling (AKA privatization)of FEMA. I'm not going to copy and past any of it here but go read it. It should be obvious to all that the Department of Homeland Security would be able to provide no "security" in the event of a major terrorist attack.
George W. Bush will pay for his evil incompetence but literally thousands will pay with their live first. Yes, thousands would have died anyway but thousands more will die who didn't have to. Kevin drum links to an article that is almost a year old in The Independent Weekly, Disaster in the making, on Bush's dismantling of FEMA which predicted much of what we are seeing today.
There are times when hyperbole is necessary and this is one of those times.
