Frist to Reid: Buzz off. Reid to Frist (hopefully): Bring it on, fool
For the Republicans to take up the estate tax now is reminiscent of the House action shortly after 9-11, when DeLay and Co. shamelessly tried to take advantage of a wealth of national goodwill to slip through billions of dollars in retroactive tax breaks to some of the biggest corporations in the world.
That didn't fly. And Charles Grassley, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, is predicting that the estate tax repeal won't fly either.
But it could be a great issue for Democrats running against those wingnut Republicans who ardently favor relief for Ms. Hilton - wingnut Republicans like Sen. John Ensign, who is a co-sponsor of legislation that would repeal the estate tax.
