I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

The American Aristocracy

It is though by some that George H.W. Bush lost his reelection campaign to Bill Clinton in part because he didn't know what a grocery store scanner was or know the price of a loaf of bread. In spite of his folksy acquired Texas drawl it is obvious to anyone who pays attention that George W. Bush has no empathy for the majority of the American people. He is from a family of aristocrats after all, why should he? This simple fact was brought up front and center yesterday when Queen Barbara Bush had a Marie Antoinette moment.

Barbara Bush: Things Working Out 'Very Well' for Poor Evacuees from New Orleans
"And so many of the people in the arena here, you
know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she
chuckles slightly)
is working very well for them."
Craig Crawford says
You just gotta believe Barbara Bush didn't mean it how it sounded, that the "underprivileged" Katrina victims now in Texas shelters are better off than they were in their pre-hurricane homes.
Sorry Craig, she meant every word of it. After all they have cake don't they?
