Americablog points us to the roundup of all the fun filled events at "Justice Sunday Part II: Revenge of the Homophobes."
Prominent conservative political and religious leaders called Sunday night for Senate approval of Supreme Court nominees who will vote to end the constitutional right to abortion, against recognition of same-sex marriage and for fewer restrictions on religious expression in public places.
The Supreme Court has sanctioned "the right to kill unborn children" and opened the door to legalized "homosexual sodomy," declared Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, which co-sponsored "Justice Sunday II."
While they had a veritable No Queers Day Parade of speakers, any one of which I'm sure could have entertained Middle Earth Journal readers for hours on end, there was one who, as Americablog points out, truly stood head and shoulders above the crowd. It was none other than Robert Bork. You remember him, right? Former Supreme Court nominee? Fortunately, that was back in the day when the progressives had a considerably larger market share on both legislative power and backbone, so good ole' Bob's nomination was beaten back. The GOP, however, took that has a tremendous insult, and even adopted the guy's name as a verb, vowing to make sure that the Democrats didn't "Bork" any more of their nominees, such as John Roberts. A few words from the
Rejected Supreme Court nominee Robert H. Bork warned that the high court has defined homosexuality as "a constitutional right . . . and once homosexuality is defined as a constitutional right, there is nothing the states can do about it, nothing the people can do about it."Yeah... that's really who we wanted to be appointed for life to the highest court in the land. "Borked" indeed. Detonated before he could blow up the constitution is more like it.
