Army recruits shortfall blamed on Iraq war critics
Several Senate Republicans denounced other lawmakers and the news media on Thursday for unfavorable depictions of the Iraq war and the Pentagon urged members of Congress to talk up military service to help ease a recruiting shortfall.Indeed, how can they be so Un-American to point out the truth; that several of America's finest are killed and maimed in Iraq and Afghanistan each day. How can they be so Un-American to point out that although the administration can find plenty of money to feed the bottom line of Halliburton they can't find the money to equip the soldiers properly or take care of the wounded when they return. How can they be so Un-American to tell the truth. Why do the Republicans hate young Americans so much.
Families are discouraging young men and women from enlisting "because of all the negative media that's out there," Sen. James Inhofe, an Oklahoma Republican, said at a U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.
Support our troops, vote the Republicans out of office.
Update
John Cole sensibly chimes in.
