Of course with election a little more than a year away Republican lawmakers are looking at the polls as well.
More than two years after Saddam Hussein was forced from power, polls show that Americans are increasingly concerned by the mounting casualties and escalating costs in Iraq. A Gallup poll released Monday found that six in 10 Americans say they think the United States should withdraw some or all of its troops.

Iraq-Troubles ahead for the White House
While the polls show that over 50% think it was a mistake to go to Iraq and 60% think things are going badly the real danger for the administration may be that many in their own party who supported the war may now believe that Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz screwed it up so badly that it can't be won. The defection of Rep. Walter Jones, a North Carolina Republican, may be an indication.
