I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Downing Street Memo(s) in the media

PSoTD has the daily stats on Downing Street Memo coverage in the media. It shows a dramatic increase in coverage over 2 weeks. Goggle News found 252 articles on June 1 and 996 article on June 13. The press is getting defensive about their coverage. The Uncommon Thought Journal tells us that Portland's Oregonian newspaper has admitted some mistakes in an editorial by Michael Arrieta-Walden, the papers public editor.
But the critics are correct in arguing that the U.S. coverage, including The Oregonian's, could and should have been more substantial.
Although the story received little coverage in the corporate media blogs wouldn't let it die and Walden says:
The newspaper ignores Web conversations at its own peril. The world is smaller, and its news can reach homes without the help of newspapers, so readers can become their own editors.

The latest Gallup Poll shows that 56% of Americans now think the Iraq war was not worth it, and 59% think we should withdraw all or part of the troops.

I heard Ralph Nader on the Thom Hartmann radio show this morning and he said that Democrats and Republicans are talking behind the scenes on how to get us out of Iraq. Has anyone else heard anything about this?
