David Wu and how not to be a Democrat

I don't normally discuss local politics here at MEJ but I make an exception for my lame Democratic congressman, David Wu. A few weeks ago I discussed his dreadful sellout to the corporate loan sharks when he supported the bankruptcy bill. I questioned how the labor unions, who gave Wu over 50% of his campaign contributions, could continue to support David Wu. Well now he has gone too far.

Wu's tie to Wiederhorn creates rift with unions

Northwest labor leaders remained cool Thursday to overtures from U.S. Rep. David Wu, who alienated many union members with his efforts on behalf of imprisoned Portland executive Andrew Wiederhorn.

Wu, D-Ore., backtracked this week from a letter he had written to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, seeking to avoid Wiederhorn's pending transfer to a Minnesota prison hospital. Wu posted a statement Wednesday in an online union newsletter and apologized directly to at least one Oregon union president.

Union workers were the biggest losers in the investment fraud that led to Wiederhorn's federal prison sentence.

So once again Mr Wu has tried to sell his constituents down the drain. Mr Wu does not deserve the support of the Labor Unions and does not deserve the right to run for re-election as a Democrat.
