My one post on the Pope

As his organs shut down and Pope John Paul slides towards death I am going to say something positive about him. As I said here for most of it's history the Catholic Church has been a political institution rather than a spiritual one. The Pope was normally a politician who didn't believe what he was telling the flock. Although I disagreed with Pope John Paul I do think he was sincere and actually believed what he said. Although in my opinion he was misguided, out of touch and wrong about many things I believe he was spiritual first.
