I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Wolfy or Carly for World Bank Head

I've always thought the primary mission of the World Bank was to create debtor nations and prop up dictators friendly to multinational corporations. With that in mind Paul Wolfowitz is probably an ideal candidate for it's president.
Paul D. Wolfowitz, the deputy secretary of defense, is under serious consideration to become the next president of the World Bank, according to an official in the Bush administration.
The other candidate is the former head of Hewlett Packard, Carly Fiorina. I don't know much about her but she would probably look pretty good in the leather "power" clothes recently made popular by Condi Rice.

I don't really see how a Bush administration appointment could make the World Bank any more evil.
Edit
Bill in DC gives us some background on Carly and why she would fit in so well with the Bush administration.
Fiorina was essentially fired from H-P for pushing the company--over the spirited objections of many H-P shareholders and in the face of serious doubts on the part of most investment analysts--into a merger with Dell [Compaq Computer] that didn't make sense from the start and that didn't pan out. Sort of reminds you of the Iraq war. Maybe that's why Bush is considering her for the World Bank--she has all the characteristics he appreciates: apparently she's headstrong, doesn't listen to considered advice, and is divorced from reality.
