I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

The sad Schiavo circus continues

So what's next?
The Congress passed legislation sending the Terri Schiavo case to the federal courts, an unprecedented and probably unconstitutional act. The Congress has now been effectively rebuffed by federal district court judge, James D. Whittemore and today by the entire federal appeals court in Atlanta. It should be noted that the Atlanta Federal Appeals court is conservative and the decision was lopsided, 10-2. Jeb Bush, who is increasingly looking like a real bimbo, made an attempt to have Terri Schiavo taken into state protective custody but the judge, George W. Greer of Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court, the same one who ordered the tube removed on Friday, turned down the request after a brief hearing late this afternoon. The case will now move to the Supreme Court but know one sees any possibility that they will intervene.

So what's next? The Republicans have nothing to show for their weekend grandstanding and pandering and in fact have probably been losers. Polls would indicate that a majority think it was wrong for congress to get involved. One real loser may be Tom DeLay. As we reported yesterday his high profile involvement has put him in the lime light at a time when all of his ethical lapses are getting a lot of print. People now know who Tom DeLay is and that he is a real sleazy guy.

So what will they do now? I don't have a clue.
