You are led
through your lifetime
by the inner learning creature,
the playful spiritual being
that is your real self.
Don't turn away
from possible futures
before you're certain you don't have
anything to learn from them.
You're always free
to change your mind and
choose a different future, or
a different
past.
...Richard Bach, Illusions
When Ron Suskind's book with Paul O'Niel spawned the "Reality Based Community" I had mixed feelings. I guess I have alway been a bit of an agnostic when it comes to reality. I don't really have a problem with the Bush administration thinking that they can create "reality" but I do have a problem with the "reality" they want to create. I firmly believe that "reality" is nothing but perception. I know that my own perceptions can and do change. I know that I can change the perceptions of others. Since reality is nothing but perception it follows that we can change "reality".
Perceptions are not easy to give up. We see that all too well in the Cognitive Dissonance of the American people who refuse to admit that the current administration has repeatedly lied to them and does not have their best interests in mind. We also see that in the Islamic world where their perception is that the west is out to destroy their perceptions. That is why 9-11 happened and I would have to admit that their perceptions are probably justified.
"Visualize Peace", we have all seen that bumper sticker. That is a message telling you to alter your perceptions. Perhaps it should be "Perceive Peace", make peace a "reality". If we all perceived a world at peace that would become the "reality".
If there is anybody still there give some thought to the rantings of this lunatic. Recognize your perceptions for what they are, the way you perceive things at this moment. You are free to perceive them differently. Don't limit yourself to the "Reality Based Community", visualize the best world you can and know that it can be "reality".
