I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

The Weather

While the NE has been suffering through snow and cold, as we've heard from Scott, Jill and Jazz, in Oregon we have been breaking high temperature records. The bad news is the snow pack in the Cascades is less than 20 percent of normal. That's the electricity and water for next summer and fall. The ski resorts have only been open a few days and many shop owners in the ski areas may not survive this season. There is no end to this "banana express", most of which is going into British Columbia where damage from floods and landslides has been staggering. The lack of low level snow will mean a vicious wild fire season next summer. The National Guard used to be a big part of the fire fighting force and we all know where they are. So, I'll think of you now is you will try to think of me next summer.
