I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Huygens Probe Blog

For those of you who, like me, have been waiting with worms on your tongue (i.e. "with baited breath") for the Huygens probe to land on Titan and see exactly what that planet has been hiding behind the clouds all of this time, check this out. CNN has one of their science guys blogging the results as the data comes in.
Imagine working 15 years for this moment. A lot of time and money on the line. Scientists and engineers in the space business might as well be galactic riverboat gamblers.
You tell 'em. This has to be the high point of their scientific careers. As of his last post, they are expecting the first low resolution pictures to start showing up around 2:45 pm today, East Coast time. The high res stuff will be later tonight.
