Notice, when asked for comment, the Flat Earth Representative immediately moved the story over to some sort of argument about the display of religious symbols and prayer. Where on Earth could anyone get the idea that the teachers were trying to condemn religion and prayer? They were simply teaching science and objecting to right wing stickers that cast doubt on their curriculum. But some parents and religious conservatives decried the ruling as another in a string of what opponents call activist judges overruling the wishes of elected officials -- often on matters of religion.
"It's another example of how the bench is dictating to people what symbols they can display, if they can pray or not pray or if they can teach a particular subject," said Sadie Fields, head of the Georgia chapter of the Christian Coalition.
This is a group of people (and they exist in pockets all over the nation) who have traded off the chance for their own children to get a quality education in exchange for a theocratic battlefield where they thought they stood a chance of victory. I had been under the impression that taking care of one's children was in line with one of the principle tenets of Christianity. Apparently I missed a couple sections of the New Testament.
