With the perceived "success" of the Iraqi elections Steve Soto suggests that Rovian spin will try to convert the political plus into support for Social Security privitization, aka destruction.

And on a totally unrelated topic, how long do you think it will be before Rove parlays today's success in Iraq into a "he was right about Iraq, he is right about Social Security" meme for Wednesday's State of the Union?

Sound ludicrous? Why, before long, I betcha the Mighty Wurlitzer starts touting Bush as a visionary. Anyone want to take that bet with me?

And now Steve reports that in the wake of the Iraqi elections Bush will start a major blitz to sell his Social Security Plan. As Steve points out this is both a threat and a golden opportunity for the Democrats.

I have argued for weeks that the Social Security initiative offers Democrats the perfect opportunity to merge the Truth Squad concept with a district-by-district pressure campaign against vulnerable GOP House members. We now know where Bush is going between Thursday and Friday of this week. Will the DNC, the DSCC, and the DCCC be ready with press conferences of their own in these cities in the same media cycle to counter Bush's message? Will these entities roll out their own campaigns in numerous vulnerable GOP House districts over the months ahead to counter these GOP PowerPoint presentations in advance, or will the blogosphere have to lead once again and have the politicians catch up?

I think that those of us in the Blogosphere™ must assume that it's up to us to keep up the counter attack.
