I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

St. Helens lets off some more steam
Steam and ash blasting out of Mount St. Helens
The steam eruption this morning followed the longest harmonic tremor yet recorded. Indications were that this eruption was mostly steam leading geologists to think that hot material may have reached the surface and come into contact with water and ice in the crater. On a side note, a relatively large earthquake was detected under Mt. Hood last night. Mt. Hood is another dormant volcano in the cascade range about 40 miles west of Portland.
