David Brooks has turned in one of his better pieces of faux academic desertions,
Not Just a Personality Clash, a Conflict of Visions. The visions he discusses are the visions of George W. Bush and the visions of John F. Kerry. According to Brooks the Bush vision comes from the freedom loving vision of people in the wide open spaces of the west. On the other hand, John Kerry's vision comes from the crowded city streets where people want the government to referee the crowded environment. Are you sick yet? If not this should do it:
When Bush talks about the world he hopes to create, he talks first about spreading freedom. What he's really talking about is a decentralized world. Individuals would be free to live as they chose, in their own nations, carving out their own destinies.
Sure, as long as their lives are controlled from cradle to grave by big American multi-national corporations.
It only gets worse and Brooks proves once again that in spite of his professorly look he is just a moron in a tweed jacket.
