I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

George Will, a very sick man

I rarely read George Will anymore, I just can't deal with the nonsense people must write to justify supporting George W. Bush. Jazz over at Running Scared still does read him and has come to the conclusion that he is a very sick man. In Will's column today he actually compares George W. Bush to Woodrow Wilson.
"It would be an irony of fate," said the governor as he left home and headed to Washington for his presidential Inauguration, "if my administration had to deal chiefly with foreign affairs, for all my preparation has been in domestic matters." George W. Bush leaving Austin in January 2001? No, Woodrow Wilson leaving Princeton in March 1913.
This is so absurd that no man of sound mind could have written those words. Will goes on to say that Bush should be re-elected because of his domestic policy. Huh? you say. Even many Republicans and conservatives think Bush's domestic policy has been a disaster. The "ownership society" is really nothing but a call to return to the feudalism that our founding fathers chose to abandon, e.g. a very few people own everything. Jazz's concern is who will George Will compare Bush to next?
I understand that George Will is a right wing partisan and feels a need to spread some ink around supporting his candidate as the election draws near, but this is a bit beyond the pale. Unfortunately, I can see what's coming next. It's only a matter of days before somebody compares W. to Eisenhower. Then I really will need Kerry's new health plan, having vomited up most of my major organs.
