So we invade their country for imperialistic reasons, mainly oil and military bases, make it clear that we are there to occupy the country for the forseeable future by hiding behind a puppet who can't even write is own speeches, and then when the Iraqis have the nerve to resist the forces of the American Empire, we just kill as many Iraqis as possible in order to get then to stop. There are days where it is very hard to believe I actually live in the USA or that we have sunk to such a level. We have become what I despise. So ends an excellent post by soccerdad at The Left Coaster. He begins the post with a quote from Rumsfeld which is chilling in its callous disregard for human life.
Iraq is making progress, he said. “At some point the Iraqis will get tired of getting killed and we'll have enough of the Iraqi security forces that they can take over responsibility for governing that country.”In the late 60's or early 70's it became obvious that it would be necessary to kill many civilians to win the war in Vietnam. As evil as the political leaders in the U.S. were at that time they realized this was not an acceptable option. The current administration apparently feels that such an option is acceptable showing how callous and evil the neocons really are.
