I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Shake and Bake in the Pacific Nothwest

Getting tired of hearing about hurricanes? Well maybe those of us in NW Oregon and SW Washinton will be able to help you out. It seems our resident active volcano is restless.
Seismologists believe there's an increased likelihood of a hazardous event at Mount St. Helens due to recent changes in the mountain's seismic activity.
Willie Scott, a geologist with the USGS office in Vancouver, said that the key issue is a small explosion without warning.

Scott said that's the major event that geologists are worried about.

Initially, hundreds of tiny earthquakes that began Thursday morning had slowly declined through Saturday. By Sunday, however, the swarm had changed to include more than 10 larger earthquakes of magnitude 2 to 2.8, the most in a 24-hour period since the last dome-building eruption in October 1986.

Mount St. Helens erupted on May 18, 1980 and left 57 people dead. It devastated hundreds of square miles around the peak and spewed ash over much of the Northwest.
