Two more US contractors have been killed in Iraq. Make no mistake, this is horrible and I have the greatest sympathy for their families but I don't want to hear about how they went to Iraq to help the Iraqi people. The reality is they went to what the knew was a very dangerous place to make big bucks. There is nothing wrong with that, but they don't deserve the status of martyrs. They rolled the dice hoping to win big and lost, no altruism involved.
And let's talk about the beheadings; we 21st century westerners find the practice abhorrent but in the middle east it's standard practice and something they all grew up with. See Saudi State Terror and Terrorist Beheadings". Keep in mind that less than 200 years ago we in the west were still burning people alive at the stake and less than 40 years ago were still taking hours to electrocute people. Both methods of death much slower and more painful than beheadings. Then of course there are the uranium artillery shells we have used in Iraq that will be slowly killing Iraqis' for generations.
Just something to think about next time you feel angry about a contractor's beheading.
