I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Iraqi Elections, it's all just talk

Make no mistake the current conversation about elections in Iraq is just talk, more political hot air. Since it scheduled after the elections in the U.S. no body in the Bush administration gives a rats a$$ whether they come off or not. It's obvious to all but the FOX Kool-Aide crowd that the idea of elections in Iraq is absurd. The election talk is part of the same spin campaign that brought Allawi to the U.S. and both Bush and Allawi to the UN. I hope that Bush Cheney 2004 paid for Allawi's visit. We have Bush saying one thing yesterday and Rumsfeld saying something else. Today we have Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage saying Elections Must Be 'Open to All' in Iraq.
The second-ranking official at the State Department said today, in an apparent contradiction of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, that the elections scheduled for Iraq in January must be "open to all citizens."

"We're going to have an election that is free and open," Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage said at a House committee hearing, "and that has to be open to all citizens."
There is no coordination because no one in the administration takes the elections in Iraq seriously. If it's scheduled to happen after November 2, it really doesn't matter.
