Allawi is simply repeating rosy assessments of the situation in Iraq inspite of overwhelming evidence that the "country" is rapidly sliding into chaos and anarchy. Of course, Allawi is only doing what a puppet is supposed to do.
Allawi was in Washington as Iraq faced a widespread insurgency before elections scheduled for January, and after a series of kidnappings and grisly beheadings of hostages. Recent polls show most Iraqis want U.S.-led occupation forces to leave the country.
"Your decision to go to war in Iraq was not an easy one but it was the right one," the interim prime minister told a joint meeting of the Senate and House of Representatives.
"In Iraq, we confront both an insurgency and the global war on terror, with their destructive forces sometimes overlapping," Allawi said. "I can tell you today they will not succeed."
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

The Allawi Dog and Pony Show
Dubya is busy parading his pet tyrant and assistant Iraq smiley face in front of the American voters today in an effort to convince them that Iraq is not falling apart. Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi told Congress on Thursday the "overwhelming majority" of Iraqis are grateful to the United States for ousting Saddam Hussein and said democratic forces are succeeding in Iraq.
