US Death Toll in Iraq Hits 1,000

The U.S. death toll in Iraq on Tuesday reached 1,000 nearly 18 months after American-led forces invaded the country to topple the government of former President Saddam Hussein, the White House said.

But Rumsfeld assures us were winning.

The rising death toll includes more than a dozen U.S. troops killed in fighting and attacks by insurgents since Friday. Nearly 7,000 American troops have also been wounded since the invasion.
