Shameless Politics War on Terror Style

Tom (not the sharpest knife in the kitchen) Ridge tried to defend the terror alert based on fossil intelligence today. The political nature of the terror alerts has become so obvious that even the lap dogs of the SCLM are questioning them. I can understand Kerry wanting to stay above the fray but there is no excuse for neocon Joe Lieberman to deny the obvious. At an appearance at the Citigroup building slow Tom declared:

"I don't want anyone to disabuse themselves of the seriousness of this information simply because there are some reports that much of it is dated, it might be two or three years old,"

The rest of the world was not too impressed:

The latest "code Orange" warning drew mild scorn from U.S. allies in the war on terror, who say such high-profile alerts cause panic and could undermine trust in intelligence.

As if anyone trusted U.S. intelligence anyway.
