I put Middle Earth Journal in hiatus in May of 2008 and moved to Newshoggers.
I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Is Bush Toast Second Edition

In the Sunday Washington Post David Broder suggested that because of two decisions Bush made that have not gone as planned, Iraq and tax cuts to boost the economy, he will lose in November.

Now Paul Waldman at the Gadflyer is going out on a limb and predicting a Kerry "Landslide". Why did he do this?

  • A general up trend for Kerry in the polls

  • A number of states that Bush won in 2000 are have become "Battleground States"

  • A majority of Americans now believe Iraq was a mistake

  • As Broder said, the economy has not gone as promised

  • Undecided voters have historically moved away from the incumbent in the final weeks

It's too early to tell, too many potential surprises, but things don't look good in the land of Bush.
Bush may be slowly losing the media. Chris Matthews was very upset with the Republicans tonight for using snips from an interview he had with Kerry to make a misleading advertisement. He was hostile towards the Republican, Matthew Dowd the Sr. Strategist for Bush-Cheney '04, who was trying to defend it.
