A void has been created by the anti-science stance of the Bush mis-administration. The global warming void is being filled by, of all groups, big business. A business Week article this week, Global Warming, discusses how business is preparing for a world with less carbon emissions.
I heartily approve this change in attitude for a number of reasons but I think it's too late to impact global warming. The reality is we have already burnt half the oil, that is introduced that CO2 into the atmosphere. I further believe that global warming was going to occur anyway, a normal cycle and we have plenty of evidence of these cycles. Global warming is not only real, it is now inevitable. It time to put more effort into determining what the impact will be and how to adapt to it. The affects of global warming may not occur slowly. There is fossil evidence of rapid changes occurring over just a few years. We need to predict what will happen and decide how to adapt. Global warming is here to stay and represents a greater threat than al Queda. If we don't escape our denial and act millions will die along with our civilization.
