Neil Goldschmidt, Closet Republican

Neil Goldschmidt for many years has been a mover and driver of Democratic politics in Oregon. Some began to question his motivations a few months ago when he became the kingpin in an effort to give the assets of our local electric utility, PGE, to yet another Texas corporation.

A couple of weeks ago we discovered that Neil was a closet child molester having had an affair with a 14 year old girl when he was mayor of Portland in the early 70’s. He spent much time and effort trying to keep this quite for 30 years.The Fall of a Power Broker

Now, in the June 1, 2004 issue of the Oregonian, Goldschmidt's colleagues shape public works, we discover that he and his consulting firm have been using Neil’s many connections to put the arch enemy of progressives everywhere, Bechtel Corporation, in the public works business in Oregon. History tells us that such a relationship will be good for Bechtel and bad for Oregonians. Those of us who live in the Portland area remember Bechtel for the poorly designed and constructed Nuclear Power Plant built on an active fault near the Columbia River NW of Portland TROJAN: PGE'S NUCLEAR GAMBLE
