I temporarily reopened Middle Earth Journal when Newshoggers shut it's doors but I was invited to Participate at The Moderate Voice so Middle Earth Journal is once again in hiatus.

Hot But Not Complaining
It was 90 degrees in Portland today, supposed to be close to 90 tomorrow. It doesn't get hot in Portland very often but when it dose it's not unbearable. Unlike much of the country, when it's not here it is dry, very dry. The relative humidity today was between 15 and 20%. The average temperature this time of year is 73 degrees. Like most averages it means little or nothing; a couple of days ago it was in the low 60's. When people think about Oregon they think about rain. Portland and Western Oregon gets 35 to 40 inches of rain a year. Two thirds of the state is desert getting less than 15 inches a year. Tornadoes are rare, floods are rare, in fact the weather here is pretty boring most the time. Of course we do have volcanoes and an occasional earthquake to break up the monotony.
